March marked the launch of something small—but seriously exciting—the Fore&Fine MG “Local is Lekker” Business League. The goal was simple: bring together local businesses, pair them up in 2-man scramble teams, and create a space where competition meets connection. Golf, networking, and a bit of bragging rights on the line.
The format was designed to fit real life. We know everyone’s busy, so teams had a full week to submit each round. Two rounds determined the top teams, who would then battle it out for podium positions—all backed by prizes sponsored by local businesses in the area.
Week 1 – Andermatt GC (Alternate Shot)
The league teed off on 16 March at the stunning Andermatt Golf Club in Switzerland. Teams tackled an Alternate Shot format, where strategy and teamwork were everything. Early leaders PGA Tour and Birdie2Stay both came in hot at -7, setting the tone for a tight leaderboard. But with margins this close, it was clear—no one was out of it yet.
Week 2 – The Legislator (Scramble)
Week 2 brought a shift to a full Scramble format at The Legislator, and things got spicy. Big comeback rounds, leaderboard shake-ups, and some seriously good golf made this round one to remember. By the end, only the top 4 teams remained:

- PGA Tour (-23)
- Benguela GC (-20)
- Hackers & Packers (-18)
With the rest of the field eliminated, it was time for the finals.
Finals – Pines Valley GC (Match Play Showdown)
After a short break (and a bit of Masters recovery), the final matches went down on 22 April at the tight and demanding Pines Valley GC—where accuracy is everything.
In the 3rd place playoff, Hackers & Packers pulled off a strong comeback, overturning a 2-shot deficit to beat Benguela GC 4 & 2.
The final was nothing short of electric. PGA Tour had to chase down a massive 9-shot handicap advantage from the in-form Birdie2Stay team. But in true clutch fashion, they sealed the win 3 & 1—with a ridiculous hole-out from a greenside bunker on the 16th. Proper scenes.

A massive thank you to all the teams who took part and supported this first run. This was just a trial—but the energy, competition, and vibe showed there’s something real here. Cape Town showed up… and this is just the beginning.
